NEWS:

1ST TANKER EXPECTED TO LOAD BTC PIPELINE OIL AT CEYHAN LATE NOVEMBER .

According to Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, BP’s Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline should be carrying around 0.25 mbd of crude to world markets by the end of 2005 and will build steadily thereafter to its full capacity of 1 mbd from 2008. The BP-operated Azerbaijan International Operating Co. (AIOC) is currently producing around 0.3 mbd from the Chirag and Azeri fields, which will rise to 0.4 mbd by the end of the year as more production comes on at the Azeri field. Around 0.15 mbd will continue to flow from Baku to the Georgian Black Sea port of Supsa — with the rest going to BTC — while the route from Baku to the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk is to be phased out. Tariffs for BTC shareholders should average out at $3- $4/bbl over 20 years. Kazakh producers could supply 0.3-0.5 mbd to BTC from mid-2010. The first tanker is expected to load at the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in late November.
